Find out more information as to why fossilized coral is a more bioavailable form

Bioavailability of fossilized coral over other forms of Calcium

Calcium Carbonate is available in two forms. The one most available is the calcite form - from limestone, which are calcium crystals that are square or hexagon in shape. Coral Cal-Min's calcium however is in a more circular rhombus (Aragonite) form. This shape is six times more soluble in water than the regular calcium carbonate and this makes it more bioavailable.

Coral Cal-Min contains Magnesium (citrate/malate) which is

a Highly absorbable magnesium chelate.

Magnesium activates the enzymes necessary for a number of physiological functions, including neuromuscular contractions, cardiac function, and the regulation of the acid- alkaline balance in the body. It is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, amino acids and fats; also for energy production, and the utilization of calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium. This vital mineral also helps utilize B-complex vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Magnesium's involvement as an intracellular catalyst in vital biological processes extends from glycolysis to carboxylic acid cycle and to DNA synthesis.

Recent studies on human subjects suggest that the required intake of magnesium cannot always be guaranteed by following a normal diet. Hence making the magnesium supplement in a bio-available form is essential.

Citrates and Malates are potential energy substrate molecules and as magnesium Citrate Malate there is increased absorption of magnesium as well as positive nutrition with excellent physiological effects.

Both Malic acid and Citric acid are alpha-hydroxy carboxylic acids and the corresponding anions are key intermediates in the major biochemical energy-producing cycle in cells known as Krebs cycle. Also malic acid component of the blend imparts greater taste.

Common signs of an inadequate magnesium intake:

  • Increased stress susceptibility
  • Cramps in calves, thighs, toes and soles of feet
  • Muscle tremors, tingling in arms and legs
  • Sleep disturbances and poor concentration
  • Nervousness
  • Nausea and constipation
  • Cardiac arrhythmia.

Due to increasingly common sub optimal magnesium in many countries, which become particularly evident in situation of heightened need (pregnancy, emotional and physical stress), oral magnesium supplementation has gained a lot of importance.

Nutritional significance of Malate in Coral Cal-Min:
Malic acid, an alpha-hydroxy organic acid, is sometimes referred to as a fruit acid. This is because, malic acid is found in apples and other fruits. It is also found in plants and animals, including humans. In fact, malic acid, in the form of its anion malate, is a key intermediate in the major biochemical energy-producing cycle in cells known as the citric acid or Krebs cycle located in the cells mitochondria.

Nutritional significance of Citrate in Coral Cal-Min:
Citrate is a naturally occurring substance in the body, a metabolic product formed at the beginning of the energy cycle. During the tricarboxylic acid cycle, carbohydrates, fatty acids and proteins are broken down to provide energy. Citrate being a "energy rich" moiety, helps to deliver the associated "mineral" nutrients and ensure its readily availability for absorption in the system.

Inorganic magnesium salts taken up from the soil by the plants are converted into complex organic compounds, which contain citrate in particular. Nothing can be more natural than to select a magnesium source of food fortification which is ingested naturally with plant-based foods, thus only the part which nature can no longer provide, under the circumstances, is supplemented as Magnesium Citrate Malate in Coral Cal-Min.

How to use Coral Cal-Min:
To make Mineral Drinking Water Mix 1/2 scoop (1/2 tsp) of powder to Reverse Osmosis or distilled water. Shake bottle before you drink the mineral water. Do not mix with regular tap water.

Add also to:

  • Juice (Fresh made Orange, Apple, Lemon etc.) Mix in 1/2 scoop of powder .
  • Homemade soups Add 1/4 scoop (1/4 tsp) per serving size.
  • Fruit Smoothes or Shakes Add 1/2 scoop for each serving size.
  • Fruit Purees Use 1/4 scoop per serving

For Large Animals: 1,000 lbs (horses, livestock, farm animals)
1/2 scoop twice a day for the first 90 days. After that, cut back to 1/4 scoop twice a day. If the animal is very active or used for daily work, then double the amounts.

Household Animals:
Cats and Dogs: 1/4 scoop per 25 pounds, once a day. Sprinkle on food.
